My Windows 8.1
My role on this Workhouse Creative-produced Microsoft commercial was that of lead stop-motion animator. The animation style we used is known as pixilation, in which a live human subject is used as a "puppet", holding a pose for each individual frame that makes up the animation sequence. At 12 frames per second, this 60-second spot came out to 720 frames. The transitions from one device to the next were done by shooting with foam-core place-holders that were cut to the range of sizes needed to fluidly animate one device turning into another. Images of the actual devices were then stretched and manipulated in post.
